The internet is filled with loads of information that can get overwhelming. If you are building your business yourself, you’re probably wearing a lot of hats and can’t seem to handle too much information at once. You need a roadmap — and we’ve created just that for you.
If you’d rather just skip this reading and get a checklist, purchase our ebook for just $1. We’re a women-owned business and every dollar goes toward supporting another one — because creative work is expensive and we try to help where we can.
Let’s get into it.
What's Inside
1. Get on Social Media:
Pick two or three platforms where your customers actually are and show up consistently. For most businesses that’s TikTok and Instagram — but if you’re targeting professionals or other businesses, LinkedIn deserves a spot too. And if you plan to run meta ads, you have to be on Facebook.
In the starting phase, you don’t need to be everywhere. You just need to be consistent somewhere.

2. Create a Website:
This is your online front. It works 24/7, shows up on Google and Bing, and gives your business the kind of credibility a WhatsApp number alone never will. With AI mode, your website can even show up in AI search results — which is where things are heading fast.
Four non-negotiables: it should be fast, aesthetic, accessible and sustainable 🌚
If you can’t get a full website yet, at least have a landing page.

3. Set Up a Google Business Profile:
Google owns more than 90% of search. If you have a unique name — like we do 😁 — that’s 90%+ of the world that could find your business if you set it up properly. It puts you on search and Google Maps with your business description, photos, and reviews.

4. List Your Business on Online Directories:
Directories let people searching for your type of service or product find you without you doing much after the initial setup. It’s low effort, often free, and adds another place for your business to appear online.
It also quietly helps your SEO — the more places your business name and contact details appear consistently, the more Google trusts you. The more Google trusts you, the higher you show up in search. The higher you show up, the more people visit your page. You get it.

5. Start Creating Content:
Content is how people find you, get to know your business, and decide to buy from you. Having a content team is great, but if you can’t afford one yet, start with what you have. Then show up and say something useful.
A reel, a video, a carousel, an article, a TikTok, a WhatsApp catalogue, an Instagram post, a WhatsApp status — you have loads to pick from. Talk about what you do, how you do it, who you’ve helped, and what your audience needs to know. Over time it compounds. Before you know it, you’ve built something wonderful.
